28 November 2018 - Smart Rail Route Map Interim Report Launched (Media Release)
The Smart Rail Route Map Interim Report identifying a long-term common view of priorities, themes, timelines and actions to support the successful deployment of digital and telecommunication technologies within the rail sector has been launched by the ARA at AusRAIL 2018 Conference and Exhibition.

15 August 2018 - Harmonising the rail industry’s digital future – the Smart Rail Initiative

The internet of things (IoT) – the concept of adding intelligence and direct communication between machines to improve their efficiency – is set to cause mass, cross-industry disruption.

The number of IoT devices grew 31 percent year-on-year in 2017; and by 2020, the global market value is projected to be $7.1 trillion.

But while the digital revolution is accelerating, the rail industry acknowledges it needs to do more to keep pace.
